Certificate in Gerontology

Purpose

The certificate in gerontology will provide an overview of the field of gerontology and how gerontological concepts are applied to health care. Students will gain an understanding of biological, psychological and social aspects associated with aging. An appreciation for the aging process and the older adult population will be achieved through "hands on" learning activities. Students will apply new knowledge and skills gained to their respective health professions and work settings.

Credits

The certificate in gerontology is earned after successful completion of 21 credits. Eighteen credit hours make up the core and three credit hours are electives.
